Debbie Balsamo, National Program Manager for the Environmental Protection Agency's Library Network received the North American Quantum2 InfoStar Award, presented by Dialog at the 2010 SLA Annual Conference and INFO-EXPO in New Orleans. The award is presented annually to professionals "whose achievements demonstrate leadership and inspire others in their industry." Among other things, Debbie was given praise for her work in implementing the "Ask a Librarian" virtual reference service at EPA.
Debbie is a long-time member and former NCSLA President.
NCSLA members spoke and the board listened! A roundtable-style event has been planned for September to address the wide array of interests expressed in the programming survey.

Call for Proposals
Submission Deadline: 5pm on Friday, April 9, 2010 What is the "5th Annual Information Literacy Conference"? It is a one-day conference covering the various aspects of Information Literacy in academic institutions, public libraries or K – 12 education.
What presentation/poster topics are you looking for? Throughout the day the presentations can cover anything from the basics of information literacy, how to write your information literacy program, success stories, tools to assist in the implementation and more! Click here to see what sessions and posters were offered last year.
All topics relating to Information Literacy will be considered. Some sample topics include:

Teachers & Librarians as partners
NC Wise Owl & NC LIVE
Is there a registration fee reduction for presenters? Presenters will receive half-price registration.
How do I submit a presentation/poster proposal? Complete the Session Proposal Form and submit it by Friday, April 9, 2010.
